Fun With Fertilizers!
We believe that when you live sustainably, each individual component and aspect of living connects with one another to form a cycle. We collect the fallen leaves from our Teak trees and combine that with the soil from our pond to create a fertilizer base for our crops. We mix our leave-soil mixture with homemade Photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) and let that sit for approximately 3 months in order to create our fertilizer. This fertilized mixture is then combined with our normal soil to create healthy, strong roots for our crops. After we prepare our home-grown vegetables and fruits in meals, any left over food is contributed towards and combined with PSB to create a fertilizer spray used during the re-planting of those crops.
However, before doing all of that, we need to first create the PSB. Here’s how we do it!
Crack eggs into a bowl and mix with shrimp paste, milk, and energy drink. The eggs and milk provide protein, the shrimp past provides calcium, and the energy drink provides sodium and potassium.
2. Combine that mixture with your PSB starter (this is optional but speeds up the process significantly).
3. Pour everything into a bottle and mix with non chlorinated water (we use water from our pond!).
4. Leave out to soak in the sun for 1-2 weeks.
5. Use as you please!
